MJfM version 2.1 is complete. I think.

Ok, what do you guys think? Be honest. I kind of wish I had done it all at once, but such is life. I got the blog knocked up and that gave me the motivation to finally tie the knot. Or something analogous to that. I promise to post real things soon. Honest. Random thoughts from this evening follow.

Go get Google Talk if you've got a gmail account. The microphone function actually works, unlike AIM or MSN or any of the other ones I've tried. Skype users take note!

Little Brother's The Minstrel Show is as good as advertised. Those in the know best get downloading. Just listen to it in order since it's a concept album type thing and all...

I picked up the new Liz Phair disc, Somebody's Miracle. It was only $7.99, but I am absolutely petrified of listening to it. Please don't let me down like last time, Ms. Phair...

Dualdiscs are a cool idea, even if playing them in the car pretty much ruins them. That's what iPods are for, I guess. That's part of the reason I haven't listened to the new Franz Ferdinand or Fiona Apple's reworked Extraordinary Machine, though. Tomorrow, friends, tomorrow. Again, if you're in the know, look for all of the previously mentioned albums some time tomorrow...

I'm going to bed now. Late. Very late.

PS: If you aren't in the now and want to be in the know, send me a shout at bigmaki@gmail.com. Then you will know.

The new disc is a good compromise between last time's too slick production and her more old school sound. There's not the daffy wordplay I loved on her older stuff, especially WCSE, but it's very personal and confessional.

I'm not 100 percent sure of how I feel about it yet, but I'm digging it a lot so far.

Thank you, Piu. I do work out on occasion. It all started from my stint in the WWE. I was known as the Silent Assassin. I had a backstory and everything, something about being AWOL from the special forces division of the Finnish military. I even had "The Finnish Finisher" as my pin move and everything. Just as I was working my way up the WWE ladder as a quality heel (industry slang for a "bad guy"), they wanted to turn me into a face (industry slang for a "good guy") and I just wouldn't have any of it. When they insisted I start taking steroids, that was really the last straw. I do have large arms from the experience, so it wasn't all bad.

Still haven't listened to the Liz Phair. Still scared. I guess I like her better angry and discontent...

Maki,

I kind of fucked with one of the templates that Blogger gives you, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do as extensive a reworking as you have (I think it looks really good.) Is it necessary to have extensive knowledge of HTML to accomplish such a feat? I am trying to make my blog look more individual.

PS How's the egg/muffin toaster?

At first I did not like the blue sidebar. However, after about 30 seconds I fell totally in love with it. Bravo. I too would love to rework my template but I get tired just thinking of it.

I need proper equipment to try out my Google Talk. I haven't even tried the chat yet. It's like this little dialogue bubble in the corner of my monitor that's just taunting me.

And a Very Cool radio station here plays all the non-played-to-death tunes from new albums -- the 2-3 I've heard from Liz Phair on the radio are good, if that helps.
