"Just wait 'til tomorrow, I guess that's what they always say, just before they fall apart..."

It seems the blogosphere is dying. There used to be this thriving network of blogs and posters and commenters and it just seems to have shriveled up to only a few of the stalwarts. Some of us promise updates in a few days, some of us promise nothing, some of us announce our departure and some of us just kind of vanish altogether without so much as a goodbye. A lot of the links on my sidebar fell under those categories. I guess I've kind of fallen somewhere inbetween since I never really stopped posting, but my heart just hasn't been in it. Certainly not like it was a year ago or even six months ago. Hell, read anything in the "greatest hits" bar on the right and you'll realize how much funnier and cohesive I used to be, at least in the blog universe.

I went back and re-read the majority of this blog recently. It's funny to see how inversely proportional my output was to how well my life was going. The more fun I was having, the happier I was, it seems like the less I found the need to write up posts observing the stupid stuff I saw and the random thoughts in my head. Thing is, I'm kind of a different person than I was when this blog began. I laughed, I cried, I got a free Egg & Muffin Toaster. I've made plenty of changes in my life and made plenty of friends since then, too. Some as a direct result of what I've written here, strangely enough. I'm also a lot busier than I've ever been. It's easy to write up a story about something silly that happened while you were at lunch when you get home from work at 6pm. Getting home at 11pm? Well, writing these posts the way I want to write them is time-consuming. And let's just say I've found other things to consume my time. And not just cable TV. Honest. I'd like to think most of my readers are bright enough to figure out what else it could be. Or Lindsay will have lots of fun making guesses. Probably a little of both. Either way, I'm a lot happier right now and I guess that means my output will be inversely proportional to that, now won't it?

So yes, this is my roundabout way of saying I'm taking a hiatus. Can I guarantee I'll be back? No, not necessarily. But thanks to those of you who've been checking in on a daily basis even though I show up only once a week or so and it's only to complain about how busy I am. Or talk about TV. But I'd rather take my time and post something really funny like I used to rather than put something here just for the sake of having an update. I'm sure you'll agree. No, not really? Well okay, FINE THEN. Either way, thanks. You guys really do rock.

Yes, this whole post was just an excuse to post the comic up top. See ya when I see ya, kids.

More TV stuff (briefly) AKA "The Amazing Race Drinking Game!"

Ok, after giving the world the wonderful and fantastic 24 Drinking Game, I bring you The Amazing Race Drinking Game. This one is much easier to keep track of. But you're still gettin' drunk.
  1. Drink any time somebody cries. Drink twice if they're male.
  2. Drink any time somebody says, "Oh my god!"
  3. Drink any time somebody says, "I can't do it."
  4. Drink any time one teammate tells the other teammate to "SHUT UP."
  5. Drink when the other teammate responds with a "YOU SHUT UP."
  6. Continue drinking until they both shut up (not happening).

I give you 10 minutes until you're drunk. 15 if you've got a decent tolerance. Can you tell they pick people for this show that annoy the shit out of me?

Progress report

Holy crap, is it October already? Insanity. Another week of non-blogging for me, it appears. I bring good news, though! I must admit that week two of me being corporate trainer new system guru is going much better than week one did. I've actually spent more than 10 minutes at my desk, which is a pretty good thing. The bad thing is that I've found like 3 trillion things I have to fix now in the system... And they're all kind of intertwined so I can't just fix one and move on. I have to fix part of one, fix something else that it breaks, go back and finish fixing the original thing, but then cross-check it with 3 other things to make sure it didn't break any of them. Then find out it broke 2 of the 3. It's that sort of system. It's kinda like tying your shoes while combing your hair while using your electric razor... All while driving to work. In a stick shift. While drinking coffee. Not that I've ever done that.

Anyway, it's a good thing I can be at my desk to do all that problem-juggling. Now, me being at my desk is either a really good thing or a really bad thing. Either the majority of people that I was kind of annoyed with and ranted about a little last week have either picked up the system faster than I anticipated (which is entirely possible) or they've become afraid of me at this point and don't want to ask me the same questions I got snarky about with last week (also entirely possible). I'm leaning towards the former since nobody's lost their mind yet and nobody's run out of the building screaming, either. At least I hope that's how things are going down. I will say that the two biggest problem children have improved greatly in the past week, which definitely gives me a better feeling about everyone else. Sure they still have their questions, but at least they're not just parroting what I tell them while complaining and acting like they have no desire to learn. I'm all for improvement, since it makes my life that much easier as I navigate the Rube Goldberg-like maze that is our new system during that vast amount of daily time we in the industry call "free time." And for all one of you that know my workplace, the two problem kids are from different areas so they have completely different sets of problems and questions. Always fun to not only shift gears from my problems but to shift gears between their problems also.

So yeah, I just spent my weekly post talking about work again. That's what my life has come to. Count your blessings... I could be bitching about the Twins losing today. Even though Santana started. At home no less. Dammit, I'm just getting angry. Frank Thomas must die. Maybe of old age at this point. Dammit. Leaving now.
